Aquarium Beginning Setup

Although all of them performed flawlessly, my opinion would be based on the extremely limited experience. Based on Eheims excellent reputation among aquarists along with my own limited experience, I have recently purchased a new Eheim canister filter to experiment with on a tank that I am setting up for myself. This article will be updated in the future when I have enough experience with Eheim to give a more reliable review.

Until I experiment with a few more Eheims, I am going to fall back on the Hagen Fluval line, Marineland H.O.T. Magnum, or one of the many excellent hang-on power filters I discussed in my July/August Impressions column

Bacteria infections are likely to be found in or around open sores or any area where stock has lost its protective coating.

Virtually all bacterial infections of captive marine life are "secondary"; the result of poor water quality, physical injury, or from some parasitic organism. Always look to poor water quality as the real "cause".

Antibiotics added to make medicated food, or a manufactured line should be used to treat bacteria infections along with frequent water changes. A "dirty" aquarium can prevent successful treament.

Does anyone know how to contact the owners of the Mad Reefer? I realized that it closed, but they have (had?) a fish tank of mine on consignment. I am looking to either reclaim the fish tank or see if it sold. Even if you just have the previous owners' names, that would be great. Thanks!.

Daphnia For The Aquarium

Daphnia are a great food source for both young and adult aquarium fish, you could catch them with a net in a pond, but their's a risk of bringing in parasites. I just found an article about growing daphnia yourself, nice read for the real tinkers out there :-)
